An interesting topic this week, covering so many areas. The Medieval period, from the fall of the Roman Empire (300 CE) to the Renaissance (1400s), shaped Western culture through art styles like Gothic and Romanesque. Medieval art evolved from purely religious themes to include contemporary life, showcasing emotion and a 3D effect. Dragons in art symbolize chaos and wisdom, often depicted as fierce foes in tales like St George and Beowulf, representing the eternal struggle of Good vs Evil.

Art inspiration;

🎨 Maybe you’d like to recreate a castle or draw the ruins of a castle you’ve visited

🎨 Perhaps you'd like to create a stained-glass window or a glass painting in a Gothic theme?

🎨 Design a heraldic shield or banner for your coat of arms

🎨 Think back to medieval times, how they celebrated and feasted, recreate a feast, and paint that scene, there will be a dog under the table clearing the scraps!

🎨 If you lived between the 5th and the 15th Century, what clothing/footwear would you wear? Are you wealthy or poor? Share your designs.

🎨 Consider the era and how life was; it could be brutal; you may wish to show this in your artwork.

🎨 Maybe you are interested in the mysticism around dragons and the stories, draw/paint your dragon and a dragon scape

There are several ways this could go! I look forward to sharing time and seeing your ideas come together. It will be a great evening of creativity, and as always, we will be a source of support for each other!

See you all soon 🙂
