🧠 Head Full Of... *MH

Have you ever felt as though your head is completely full?

Thoughts, ideas, things to remember, things we enjoy and a few completely random things can all jostle for space in our minds. Sometimes they feel organised; at other times they become one enormous jumble. That's all part of being human.

With World Mental Health Day approaching on 10 October, we're giving a little thought to what goes on inside our heads — but without getting too heavy or personal. Nobody needs to share private thoughts or feelings. Instead, we're using art to give our minds permission to wander, explore and have some fun.

What might fill your head?

Perhaps it's the things you love — music, animals, people, places or favourite interests. Maybe your mind is bursting with colour and pattern, or filled with textures you can almost feel: soft, fluffy, smooth, crunchy or prickly.

Then again, why should anything inside your head make sense?

Fill it with something completely unexpected. Let fish swim through it, flowers grow from it, or add something wonderfully strange. Your mind could even become a doorway into another place — a garden, outer space, an underwater world or a completely new realm that exists only in your imagination.

Artists have played with this idea too.

Richard Dupont's Heads series takes it quite literally. He created casts of his own head and incorporated objects from his studio, everyday life and things that caught his attention — turning the contents into part of the artwork itself. https://www.richarddupont.com/sculptures/resin-heads/featured-works?view=slider
