Butterfly Education and Awareness Day (BEAD), on Sat 7 June 2025, highlights their importance in pollination and ecosystems.  Simple actions like planting nectar-rich native flowers and hosting butterfly-friendly gardens can help protect them. The day promotes learning, visits to butterfly reserves, citizen science projects, and community events to raise awareness and support conservation efforts.

Butterflies have existed for over 50 million years, with 56 native species in the UK and Ireland. They’re admired for their beauty, featured in art and literature, and used to teach about nature. As indicator species, they help monitor biodiversity and pollution.

🎨 Draw butterfly wing patterns inspired by real designs.

🎨 Design a wildlife habitat where butterflies dance in a meadow.

🎨 Does the lifecycle of the butterfly fascinate you, or a stage of this? Focus on a life stage and represent this as your transformation artwork.
