Sea Life

Thinking about sea life evokes stunning seascapes and marine wildlife, and bioluminescent algae that illuminate some of the seas and oceans worldwide at night. Then, in a flash, my mind drifts to mythical creatures like krakens, serpents, and mermaids/mermen.

After a pause, my focus shifts to other areas of life at sea, and I think of fisherfolk, lighthouses with their keepers, rescue workers, etc, and local tribal folk who live and are supported by the seas.

The ocean and sea invoke many personal memories, an admiration for sea art, and a desire to protect marine ecosystems. The ocean's mystery and beauty continue to captivate us. Exploring these aspects reminds us of the importance of preserving our oceans for future generations.

Art inspiration;

🎨 Paint or draw a seascape, a tropical beach, a rocky coastline, a beach bonfire, and think about the lighting at different times of the day.

🎨 Draw and colour marine life, this could include lurking deep-sea creatures, fantasy art, and celebrate their beauty.

🎨 You may wish to draw objects above or below the sea’s surface, for example, a fishing vessel with crew, a lighthouse with birds circling, a sunken pirate ship with fish swimming by.

🎨 Create a coral reef or other underwater setting teeming with life, use whatever media you wish.

🎨 Try some ocean-inspired abstract art, using movements. Think about colours and patterns that evoke powerful emotions and a sense of wonder.

As you can see, there are several ways you can interpret this topic!

I look forward to sharing time and seeing your ideas come together.

It will be a great evening of creativity, and as always. Wednesday evening, 7:30 pm UK time.
