Hazy Days of Summer

Have you noticed how many of us have been fortunate with warm summer days this year... It's good to remember these times.

August is stretching, edging towards September, and we're still due to have the last of the late summer bank holidays. However, I'm sure many will have enjoyed a break away, a stroll in the park or the countryside, maybe by the water’s edge. Perhaps some have sat under a tree in the shade, letting the breeze gently cool you for a moment, as the reflections of the leaves dance on the ground.

Certainly, you will have made good use of the long hours of daylight and spent time socialising, enjoyed festivals, barbecues and attended open-air cinemas late into the warm nights.

However, there’s a slight tinge of a chill hitting the air now, a sign that Autumn is on its way. The hazy days of summer are drawing to a close, and soon time to be thinking about cosy evenings in as it gets cooler and darker and wetter once more.

Art inspiration;

🎨 Out in nature, scenery such as a forest, mountains, a lake, coastline, morning dew, light through clouds, a summer storm – all are fantastic backdrops for summer paintings. Maybe try one from a photo you captured

🎨 Perhaps you have memories of a holiday or day out and can sketch and paint this, a carnival, festival, road trip, picnic, or other memorable time

🎨 Seasonal summer flowers, fields of sunflowers, lavender fields, poppies, ox-eye daisies, and buttercup wildflower meadows – make for beautiful watercolour paintings

🎨 Beach and ocean art – prints of shells and starfish or a lighthouse, what did you see? Make this into your art piece

🎨 Maybe you visited a city, which one? Sketch the landmarks, use photos and items to identify this place, as well as colour to bring it to life

🎨 Summer has a great palette, warm, vibrant colours, filled with many events that spark emotions. Try painting a summer abstract artwork

This will be a great evening of creativity. See you all soon 🙂
