Buildings - Finished artwork

We had a fantastic week exploring buildings and engaging in some really good conversations about our work, their meanings, how we created them, why we chose the style, and some background information about them. We went on a journey, and as you'll see, featuring a whole range of different styles in our gallery.

Light blue background with 3 artworks top left a watercolour part of a Gaudi building in light blue, pale green and white; top right a photo/cartoon colourful collage made from an app and bottom right a watercolour tall buildings yellow, orange and red, blue sky
Barbara, Phil, and Andy's finished Buildings Artworks

Barbara - Drew a section of a window in a building designed by Gaudi. She explained it's Art Nouveau style. If you look closely, the window has 10 sections. The upper part has beautiful stained glass, the lower is reflecting the bright blue sky, white buildings and trees! The architecture of this building has some lovely curves and the details are stunning. Found in Barcelona.

Phil - generated a digital image using an app to create a colourful collage of himself in the foreground with various styles of buildings in the background, all different genres.

Andy - took us to the buildings in Amsterdam. Standing tall in the skyline. Great details have been added with a black fine liner, highlighting window architecture, door frames, panelling, and roofs. Watercolour washed buildings, that blend into each other, against a vibrant blue sky.

Light blue background; top left is a hand drawn 4 storey block of flats red brick with red front door and side turrets with arch windows to each side; bottom right reimagined, city, some high rises blended rusty colours fading into purple and white on the right, one has a swinging sign, centre blocky towers tips are rust coloured with yellow and to the right various abstract pink shapes and a dusky sunset wash
Donna and Sarah's finished Buildings Artworks

Donna - Designed, drew, and coloured in a block of flats for herself, friends and family. It features a large, welcoming red front door and attractive arched windows. She went on to explain that it has a roof garden, a swimming pool, and a space for each of us. We all asked if we could go live there and catch up with each other over a brew in the daytime.

Sarah - 'Recycled City' This artwork created itself, made from pieces of recycled packaging, acrylic pen markers sprayed down with water, stamped onto paper. A lot of messiness was involved during the process, after drying, then outlined areas with a fine line marker and the city was created, a watercolour dusky coloured wash was added...

Really fabulous ideas emerged from this theme. It's always great to allow our creative crew the flexibility to explore, then meet with them and see where the idea has taken them. I wonder which building or style has left a lasting impression on you, what would you have shared as your building, or would you have drawn? The world is a big place, and as you have seen, not everywhere has been built. Some chose to use imagination and create spaces and buildings of their own!

Let me know your thoughts. In the meantime, enjoy the gallery.

Please join us for the next session as it's a special one. All4Art group is celebrating their 2nd Birthday, and we will be creating a collaborative piece for the occasion.

We meet on Wednesday 7:30 pm UK time, you're welcome to join if you're free, here's the link, All4Art

It was an awesome journey, it's always cool to see how everyone looks at something and interprets it so differently 😊
