Buildings

In this country, many of us live among buildings designed by architects, enclosed structures with a roof and walls, designed for living, working, or storage. They vary in size and shape, provide shelter, and reflect cultural and artistic styles. Recently, sustainable practices have aimed to reduce the overall environmental impact of buildings.

Before cameras, artists captured buildings, painting or drawing them whilst travelling and selling copies, offering atmospheres beyond technical drawings.

Art inspiration;
🎨 Take a walk through where you live or flick/scroll through some photos of built-up areas. Notice the shapes, height differences, the lines, and how light plays on surfaces. Start with a one-point line perspective drawing on your horizon. Build your picture from there.
🎨 Look at some of the architecture on a church or cathedral, and the details of the stonework. Capture this in your drawing.
🎨 Think of a treehouse, or a magical faraway castle, capture creativity and fantasy in your design, add whimsical details, and magical colours.
🎨 Explore urban life through the lens of industrial architecture, using light, shadow, and perspective to highlight structural elements. This could be at a railway station or a shopping centre, anywhere in the world. Design your own, perhaps?
🎨 Capture the vibrant energy and unique character of an urban skyline through dynamic lines, contrasting shapes, and how light and shadow interact. This could be a silhouette.
🎨 Design a unique building that you and your friends/family could live in. Is it made with sustainable materials? Where are you building it?
I look forward to sharing time and seeing your ideas come together. It will be a great evening of creativity, and as always, we will support each other!
See you Wednesday, 7:30pm UK time, here's the link tree
