Very engaging and powerful theme to begin December with and something that will be emotive to many.

Disability History Month (20 November–20 December) highlights the long and often overlooked history of disabled people. After the First World War, more than two million disabled veterans made visible the poor treatment and exclusion long faced by those with physical, mental and non-visible disabilities. Although change was slow, the world wars challenged attitudes and increased awareness of inclusion.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December promotes dignity and rights. 1.3 billion people worldwide still face poverty, health inequities and discrimination. UN initiatives, including the 1981 International Year and the 2019 Disability Inclusion Strategy, continue to drive progress. The focus of 2025 is on 'fostering disability inclusive societies, acceptance and respect.'

Art inspiration;

🎨Create an artwork or mural style piece of work celebrating disability acceptance and respect, promoting inclusivity to foster positive conversations about disabilities.

🎨 Try a ‘Walk in my shoes’ art challenge. For example, use your non-dominant hand to draw with. A challenge faced by many who have a neurological deficit or limb loss.

🎨 Share your disability or disabilities and advocate for yourself and others through an impactful piece of artwork.

🎨 You may wish to think about the history of disability and changes that have happened and base your art on these, there’s a lot of scope around the activists if you research those.

🎨 Acceptance, have you found your tribe and feel respected, included, supported and celebrated? This could be a piece of abstract art or draw yourself as part of your group.

🎨 Share a message to the world - Accept and respect, disability and inclusion. Design a poster for Disability History Month/International Day of Persons with Disabilities!

It will be a great evening of creativity! See you all soon Wednesday evening, 7:30 pm UK time. Please join us on link-tree select All4Art https://linktr.ee/all4inclusion
