On 8 March, people around the world celebrate International Women’s Day, which recognises the achievements and contributions of women while also highlighting the discrimination and inequality many still face. This year marks 115 years of celebration.
The theme, ‘Give to Gain,’ shares a positive message: when we invest in women through education, healthcare, fair job opportunities, and leadership roles, everyone benefits. Empowering women strengthens families, workplaces, and communities, creating a better future for all.

The colours purple, green, and white symbolise the day and were also worn by the Suffragettes. In some countries, such as Italy, mimosa flowers are exchanged, and many events raise funds for charities supporting women and girls worldwide.

Art Inspiration for this week;
🎨 Recognise and celebrate the achievements of the women in your life, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, or friend, and create an artwork connecting to this.
🎨 Create a vision board for either yourself or women around you representing dreams and goals, using magazines, newspapers and fabric, or maybe an electronic app to develop this.
🎨 Craft or draw some flowers, maybe Mimosa, and give them to a lady who has made a difference in your life or keep them as a reminder and give them with a special message to someone you meet, celebrating strong women.
🎨 As part of International Women’s Day, draw or paint a woman who has inspired you, or choose a woman from history who made an important difference. Maybe create a portrait or include objects and symbols that represent her achievements and why she is important.
For example, Mary Anning was the fossil hunter who discovered the first complete Ichthyosaurus skeleton. So, fossils could be drawn to help show her important contribution to science.
🎨 Make a bouquet of handprint flowers symbolising give and receive, using purple and white paper. Draw around your hand, AND each finger forms a petal. Add glitter, and stick them onto green pipe cleaners as stems. Gather together to display. Add a message of strength, support and empowerment. You can exchange with others.
It will be a great evening of creativity! See you all soon 🙂 Wednesday evening, 7:30 pm UK time. Please join us on link-tree select All4Art https://linktr.ee/all4inclusion
