Interesting fact, the UN reports there are 476 million indigenous people in 90 countries who speak 7,000 languages across 5,000 cultures. They have developed their traditions in harmony with nature and offer deep insight into the world. Many of these people and tribes hold their secrets close to themselves and work to protect their communities and heritage amid global change.

Australian Aborigines are among the world's oldest continuous cultures, dating back roughly 75,000 years. Their intricate art is a visual language and conveys dreamtime stories and spiritual beliefs about nature, the land, and the cosmos. Seen in artwork in caves, rocks and now on canvas. Stories have been passed down through the generations.

Art inspiration;

🎨 Create your own Aboriginal-style, dot art painting, using the end of a paintbrush or similar to dot the paint in close together, to form one shape, or further apart, to form multiple separate shapes.

🎨 Try painting with natural pigments, earth colours, think about the nature around you, people, and places to incorporate those into your artwork using original native symbols

🎨 Perhaps create a totem pole using the spirit animals and symbols associated with Native American Indians

🎨 Paint or use Sharpies to decorate rocks with symbols. Could be Aboriginal or Native American Indians

🎨 Collect feathers, use these to create a feather art piece as used by Native American Indian tribes. The vibrant plumage of birds holds cultural significance.

🎨 With many geometric patterns created by indigenous tribes, think about creating your own. This could be used in a zentangle design, perhaps?

It will be a great evening of creativity, looking forward as always to seeing the artwork. Wednesday evening, 7:30 pm UK time.
