"Step right up to the greatest show ever... "

Welcome to our 'Artwork Circus', the theme this week. It proved to be massively colourful and one that appealed to everyone. Don't just take my word for it, have a browse through the gallery, so many different takes, from Big Top Tents to the performers themselves, from the everyday to the extreme! A lot of imagination, flair, and movement, fabulous!

Bottom left; Big top red and yellow tent big Ferris wheel behind, grey seal with ball to the right, a travelling caravan to the far right in the distance
Carolina and Donna's finished Circus artworks

Carolina - used soft pastels and newspaper to create a mixed media artwork of a circus she remembers from her younger years. She explained the elements of dance and music in her character that she has captured in her trapeze artist as they swing on their bar, on the ropes, high above the main showground. I think you'll agree it's a mesmerising piece. Carolina joined us from Sicily last week.

Donna - used felt tip pens to capture the circus memories she had, she explained she's been to the circus recently on her holidays.

Andy, Noor, and Phil's finished Circus artworks

Andy - used soft pastels and watercolour paint in his artwork, showing animals of the circus in times gone by in many countries and the big top tent that remains today.

Noor - used colouring pencils to create a very impressive Big Top Tent.

Phil - created his support team as clowns. He has a great team around him, and he has a great imagination, creating a different outfit for each worker, and a name is fab. He used acrylic pens to create this colourful artwork.

Left Bare chested white male, black jeans, knee high black buckle boots, ginger spikey hair juggling 3 chainsaws, flame background; Right - 4 acrobats wearing red, in a giant metal rotating wheel dazzled with yellow spotlights, full seated audience of faces at the rear looking on, lighting rigs to the side and a dappled blue tent top
Barbara and Sarah's finished Circus artworks

Barbara - 'Chainsaw Juggler' - painted using watercolours. Barbara loved the circus and had been on several occasions in the past. She especially loved the alternative circus, the reason for her settling on the chainsaw guy. Barbara cleverly morphed a famous singer juggling with chainsaws; she adjusted his skin tone. Can you guess which singer?

Sarah - 'Testing human strength' - painted using watercolours. This shows the athletic skill and daring of circus performers in the spinning human wheel, being watched by a packed or perhaps panicked audience. Would you be able to attempt this level of daring?

As you can see, a lot of entertainment at the circus week. Do you have any favourites? Let us know, high energy, colour and vibrancy as you may expect.
