On 8 March 2026, International Women's Day was marked with many events and demonstrations worldwide, including a march in Berlin with around 20,000 attendees protesting against violence and gender discrimination. In Brazil, protests called for an end to gender-based violence, while in Karachi, Pakistan and Istanbul, Turkey, women's rights issues were highlighted globally.
Locally, in the UK, women have been recognised and awarded for their efforts in volunteering and in service. Women's running groups on the Island of Jersey joined together to raise funds for the domestic abuse charity 'Freeda'.
In our online group, we celebrated women through artworks and inspirations from people closer giving time and also flowers to give as a gift to those women whom we appreciate, as well as some other women who have promoted and inspired and given rise to a whole revolution of female empowerment. Please take your time to browse our gallery.

Barbara - An awesome portrait of Suzi Quatro, which gave her inspiration.
An excellent tribute. Barbara explains that Suzi was much loved from her childhood, she was the first woman she remembers rocking out on Top of the Pops when she was a young person, and reminded us all in the art group, that Suzi is still performing, sounding and looking fabulous at the age of 75! And also that she must have faced a lot of prejudice from many during her time. Watercolour painting.

Val - A fantastic portrait of Noor, one of our All4inclusion and art group members. Noor also attends other groups, gives a lot to others and is a great friend. She inspired Val to draw her and celebrate International Women's Day. This is such a beautiful thought by Val. Graphite sketch.

Noor - A fantastic poem with strength was copied and handwritten out by Noor from a source she found on the Internet. She then went on to produce her own artwork. A stunning flower in a vase, a colourful tribute to International Women's Day. Marker pens and coloured pencils were used.

Donna - A fantastic portrait of Donna's Mum, we know as Val, who supports Donna, both are our All4inclusion and art group members. Donna gets support when she needs assistance from her mum with all areas in her life and looks to her for support when she attends other groups. They are an awesome duo of women. Donna was inspired to draw her mum and celebrate International Women's Day as she gives her so much. This is so kind and thoughtful of Donna and a reflection of Val. Graphite sketch.

Phil - A spectacular photographic collage compilation of inspirational women who are a part of Phil's life. They include his family, friends, support workers, and he also appreciated the work of actress Patricia Routledge in Keeping Up Appearances. Great to see that Phil is wearing his colourful statement clothing in the photos he features in. Great piece of work for this topic. Made using the Inshot app.

Andy - A beautiful, poignant single stem of lavender chosen for its natural purple colour as it represents the suffragette movement, and is a display colour used for International Women's Day. The background is very soft to complement this stem, also, love this Andy. Pastels and watercolours were used.

Parveen - Shared with us the story of Princess Catherine Hilda Duleep Singh with annotations and a drawing of one of the ladies involved during the Suffragette movement. A beautiful sketch and outfit befitting of the time. Thank you for sharing this story.

Nicole - A lovely flower using the symbolic colours of the Suffragette movement, purple, green and white. This flower will never wilt, can be framed and could be given to a friend, maybe... Nicole drew and painted this with her new watercolour paint set, very meaningful.

Matthew - A gesture of kindness was sent during our art group as Matthew decided to draw Myra, a valued member of All4inclusion, looking to her as his source of inspiration and send his well wishes. An adorable drawing. Black biro on lined paper.

Wherever you are and however you celebrated or honoured the women and girls on International Women's Day 2026, please continue to remember to support and stand up for others who need your help and give their time.
Amazing pieces from everyone, looking at all the art and reading the poems and written work attached, it's clear that inspiration has been drawn from many areas and from awesome women. The flowers drawn were beautiful and I really love the fact they will be able to be kept forever. A noteworthy reminder is that one day of highlighting empowerment for women and their achievements shouldn't stop at that single day, this needs to be embraced and women and girls should be seen, heard and treated respectfully everyday. Thank you everyone who submitted and shared their work. If you would like to take part in the next art session, different topic every week. They run every Wednesday at 7:30pm, join via link tree, see below, All4Art.
