Friends & Family Tree

We are all connected in different ways, and finding people who share our values and bring joy can make life more meaningful. While family connections often come through bloodlines, these relationships can sometimes be complicated or distant. Friends can also become like family, offering support and a strong sense of belonging.

A family tree is a visual way to show how people are related across generations. Genealogy is the study of family history and ancestry, helping people learn about their heritage and identity. Tracing family connections can be challenging, as memories fade and records may be lost, but historical documents, newspapers, and online archives can help uncover important pieces of the past. Cherished items can be passed from loved ones, but sometimes they can be lost. These objects can hold special meaning and provide clues about a family’s story for future generations.

Art Inspiration for this week;
🎨 Create a simple family tree. Start with a trunk and branches, add names, colours or small drawings for family members.
🎨 Make an Ancestry Map, showing where your family comes from. Draw a map, flags, patterns, or symbols connected to your culture. You may wish to use a collage for this.
🎨 Draw or paint a special object connected to your family history. OR an item given to you that you cherish.
🎨 Create a tree of connections of people who support you. Use colours, shapes, or small pictures to represent them and place them on leaf cut-outs.
🎨 Perhaps explore the Evolutionary Tree, where all life on earth is interconnected. Look at the links and trace those. Produce an animal-based artwork.
It will be a great evening of creativity! See you all soon 🙂 Wednesday evening, 7:30 pm UK time. Please join us on link-tree select All4Art https://linktr.ee/all4inclusion
