
Kevin Daws has posted about Assisted Dying already (see the related blogs).
But it is such an important topic, we need to discuss it more and more.
My opinion has changed.
I used to be for it, because I believe one day that I would like to determine when I finish the pain myself.
But it isn’t about me, it’s about the community.
What is right for me, isn’t right for everyone.
More importantly what is right for me, isn’t necessarily right for the majority of the community.
But what about those without a voice.
People who are believed to not be able to make decisions could be forced in to leaving
There's a lot of countries that are doing things similar.
So, you know, you go right back to the 1940s, Switzerland was the first country. But then no one for quite a long time. In Holland, it came in 2002.
But in Holland, you can request to end your own life from the age of 12, but you need consent from a parent.
When Grace asked me to be on her podcast and talk about Assisted Dying I felt a real responsibility.
It’s important to provide my opinion. That’s why I have been asked on. But at the same time I need to show both sides of the argument.
I hope I managed to do this.
Grace is a great podcast host who shows real empathy whilst asking questions to get the most out of the interviewee.
It was a real pleasure to be invited on.
