Voting for the All 4 Inclusion Awards starts in August.
I want to ensure the voting form is as accessible and inclusive as I can make it.
It may not be perfect and it is a learning curve for me as I hope it is for you.
When it comes to accessibility, I am including that not everyone who is looking to cast a vote will know who everyone is. To resolve this I am including a link to a social media link for each person.
To some reading this, ALT text would be included as standard. It will be included on all images. To those who do not know what ALT text is, it is a description of the image set behind the picture. The reason it is important to include is that people using screen readers cannot see your pictures. The ALT text provides them with a description. It is easy to include and on most places you include photos it gives you an option to edit the picture. This is where you can include the description to help those who are using screen readers to navigate the internet.
The next thing I am looking to include is a separate path for people who are using screen readers only. I am unsure if the links by the finalists name will make it easier or trickier for someone to navigate using a screen reader.
This became very apparent to me whilst watching a video Clive Loseby posted on his You Tube Channel. (see video below).
I apologise in advance for anything I could improve on. If there is anything you spot, please email scott@all4inclusion.org and I will do everything I can to improve this going forward.
I would obviously prefer to get things right first time.
Please drop any accessibility ideas for the voting form in the comments below.
Thanks Scott
