On Display: Wild About Animals š¾
Following World Animal Day on 4 October, our Wild About AnimalsĀ session gave us an opportunity to celebrate the incredible variety of creatures we share our planet with.
From much-loved pets and childhood favourites to wildlife, marine animals and even imaginary creatures, everyone brought something different to the theme. Some drew inspiration from personal experiences and special connections, while others explored colour, character and creativity through painting, drawing and digital art.
Whether joining us live or creating alongside us in their own time, our artists have brought together a wonderfully varied collection of animal-inspired artwork.
Take some time to explore our gallery and enjoy the wonderful world of animals through the eyes and imaginations of our artists.

Noor - Explored two different mediums during our session. For her first painting, she followed a tutorial using watercolours, which led to a lovely conversation about birds and their colours. We noticed how her bird shared some of the bright blue and yellow markings of a blue tit.
For her second piece, Noor turned to one of her favourite animals, the giraffe, using soft pastels and bold, colourful marks to create her own interpretation.
I absolutely love her bird. It reminded me of blue tits and their lovely song, which you hear at certain times of the year. Watercolour paint/soft pastels

AndyĀ ā Couldn't join us on Wednesday due to prior commitments, but still wanted to contribute to our Wild About AnimalsĀ gallery. He chose to paint an orca, having noticed that we hadn't featured any marine animals. Working over the weekend, Andy created a striking watercolour of this magnificent ocean predator, using contrasting dark and light tones against a soft blue background.

Donna - Has loved elephants ever since she was a little girl, so they were a natural choice for this week's theme. Using felt-tip pens, she's created a friendly elephant standing beside a watering hole, surrounded by trees and lush green vegetation. A colourful scene inspired by an animal that has held a special place in Donna's heart since childhood.

Val - Chose to draw a graceful white swan swimming across the water, using felt-tip pens to add colour to her scene. Blue strokes suggest ripples on the water, while green banks and reeds surround the swan. Although Val doesn't have any swans living nearby, she enjoys seeing them whenever she gets the opportunity.

Matthew - Chose to draw his favourite animal, a dog! His inspiration came from a cuddly toy dog he recently discovered in a local shop and lovingly brought home. His newest little companion now has a home of its own, and Matthew has celebrated it through his drawing.

Phil - Took inspiration from his much-loved cat, Haley, whom he absolutely adores. Using an app, he created six playful interpretations of his feline companion, with glowing neon outlines, colourful whiskers and expressive faces. He then brought them together in a vibrant rainbow collage, celebrating Haley through colour and creativity.

Christine - Enjoys getting creative digitally and shared two lovely animal pictures this week ā a pair of bluebirds among pink blossoms and a colourful fox portrait. Exploring different designs and colours through her colouring apps is one of the ways Christine joins in with our creative sessions.

Nicole - Searched in Poundland for a paint-by-numbers picture to fit our Wild About AnimalsĀ theme and found these colourful parrots. She completed the painting in one sitting, bringing the birds to life with their bright tropical colours.
Nicole also shared that she'd seen parrots during a previous holiday in Tenerife and is looking forward to visiting the animal park again.

Sarah - I couldn't choose just one animal, so I combined three of my favourites!
I've always loved hedgehogs. I used to work at a wildlife rescue centre, have rehomed one, and even had a hedgehog visiting my previous home.
Then there are dormice: fascinating, protected little creatures that hibernate. I can certainly relate to their need for plenty of sleep!
And finally, the extraordinary axolotl. I've always been intrigued by these unusual amphibians, with their feathery gills, ability to breathe underwater and remarkable powers of regeneration.
All three are incredible in their own ways, so why choose between them?
And that's how my Dormolotyl came to life ā a prickly, fluffy, feathery little creature that probably spends most of its time asleep!

What stands out from this week's gallery is how differently we connect with animals. Some remind us of special memories, others capture our curiosity, and a few simply make us smile.
As we explored in our original blog, animals have inspired artists for centuries, from careful observations of nature to extraordinary imaginary creatures. Our own gallery reflects that same freedom to observe, interpret and imagine, each in our own way.
It's these different perspectives, experiences and creative approaches that make All4Art such an inclusive and welcoming space, where everyone can express themselves and share their creativity in their own way.
If you'd like to join us for some creativity and friendly company, you're very welcome! Our All4Art sessions take place every Wednesday evening, from 7:30 to 9:00 pm (UK time), on Zoom.
Everyone is welcome, whatever their ability or experience, and there's no pressure to create a masterpiece ā just come along, explore your creativity and enjoy being part of the group.
