I may have missed the harvest, but what a lovely collection of creativity was waiting for me!

This week’s All4Art session took place while I was away, with Scott stepping in to look after the group as everyone explored our Gathering the Harvest theme.

Catching up with the artwork afterwards was a real treat, especially seeing all the different directions everyone had taken with the theme.

So come and take a wander through the harvest our artists have gathered this week. There are plenty of ideas and a few surprises along the way!

Vineyard of sweeping green, blue and red fields with colourful farm huts and distant hills, framed by All4Inclusion harvest imagery.
Vineyard

Andy - Took inspiration from vineyards for his harvest artwork, creating a landscape of sweeping rows across the fields with hills rising in the distance. His soft greens, earthy browns and touches of red give the scene a gentle, rural feel. Beautiful - I love the gentle contours he’s used across the landscape.

Colourful countryside scene of a cream sheep wearing a flower crown beside a bright yellow duck, with flowers and a green fence behind. All4Inclusion harvest imagery frames the artwork.
Sheep and Duck #2

Christine - Shared two colourful digital pieces for Gathering the Harvest. Her first shows a wonderful collection of harvested produce - bunches of purple grapes, pears, tomatoes and other fruits, surrounded by flowers in the back of a truck, with golden fields and farm buildings beyond.

Her second brings some farmyard characters into the gallery, with a flower-crowned sheep and cheerful yellow duck sitting together amongst colourful flowers.

Both are so bright and cheerful - fantastic splashes of colour across Christine’s contributions.

Vicky - Loved seeing Vicky's interpretation of the topic. She filled her page with several ideas from the theme, drawing a harvest mouse, a combine harvester and her own selection of harvested vegetables. Together, they show the different things she associated with Gathering the Harvest, from wildlife and machinery to the food being gathered.

Matthew - Fantastic! It’s always lovely to see Matthew taking part and sharing his artwork with the group. For Gathering the Harvest, his choice was carrots and tomatoes, which he drew in black pen, adding plenty of shading and texture to his carrot.

Harvest theme

Zahra - Created her own cheerful interpretation of the harvest theme, with a large tied sheaf topped by seven smiling flower-like faces. Loved seeing these! It has the feel of a traditional harvest sheaf or decorated harvest loaf, given a wonderfully playful character.

Harvested Teeth

Barbara - Awesome detail, if a little gruesome! Barbara took Gathering the Harvest in a brilliantly unexpected direction! Instead of crops or food, she explored the historical practice of harvesting human teeth for use in early dental work.

Her inspiration stretches from ancient dentures made using real human or animal teeth, through to the rather gruesome story of “Waterloo Teeth” in the early 1800s, when teeth taken from dead soldiers were sold for use in dentures.

Barbara's detailed study captures the aged teeth, gums and early dental work in wonderfully earthy tones. Such an imaginative interpretation of the word harvest — and certainly not one I would have predicted!

What a harvest of creativity!

I may not have been there to see these pieces being created, but I’ve loved coming back to such a varied gallery of artwork.

That’s the joy of All4Art — one theme can spark so many different ideas, and you never quite know what might appear in the gallery!

From the familiar to the completely unexpected, Gathering the Harvest certainly gave us plenty to discover.

Which artwork caught your eye this week? As always, we’d love you to show your support for our artists - leave a like, share a comment and let them know what catches your eye. ❤️

And one more harvest arrived in the gallery… 🌾

Guarding the Crops

Donna - Caught up with our Gathering the Harvest theme after her holiday, finishing her colourful harvest picture during this week’s art session. Her cheerful scarecrow stands amongst tall corn plants, with plump orange pumpkins gathered at its feet. Lovely to see Donna going back to a theme she missed and adding her artwork to our harvest collection!

Replying to

Fantastic week of work, I agree. I very much enjoyed browsing the gallery and putting the blog together on my return from my break. I would never have imagined harvested teeth either, Myra, but they are exquisite — and certainly would have been useful to the recipient back in the day!
