Our Travel Club Met on 28 May for a virtual visit to Switzerland where we enjoyed visits to several Swiss cities and also looked at how to make this more financially affordable given it is one of Europe's most expensive countries to visit.

Switzerland is home to many accessible accomadation and places to visit. A good resource for finding accomodation is

Throughout the evening we visited several of Switzerland's cities. We began in Zurich which has a number of accessible things to do, Some links are below

We then visited Lucerne which is another accessible city. They sent us some resources as PDF's which were shared in our Whatsapp chat afterwards

Moving on we headed to Montreaux which is on the shores of Lake Geneva. There is lots of accessible places to stay and things to do there. Some things to do are

In terms of hotels the following were recommended as accessible to us

We then finished off in Geneva which is also accessible and more information is avalable on this link

In a previous travel club we also visited the city of Basel. You can find out more about here on this blog

Our evening was orientated arround Switzerland's trains, specifically the Panorama Trains found throughout the country. More information is avalable on the website below about train travel arround Switzerland including the panoramics

We then looked at other ways to save money such as staying in one of Switzerland's neighbour's. We specifically looked at the options around Geneva staying in France's Haute Savoie region, more information can be found on this web link about options there

A good hotel for Geneva is also hyperlinked below

Other good options for nearby countries include Germany and Italy. On the evening itself a few of you said Lake Como in Italy was on the bucket list so I have included a good accessible website for there to help start the planning!

We then discussed skiing and how Switzerland is a popular country for this. A few of you were interested in finding out more about options for this. Having done some research I have managed to get some information on some French resorts which are fully accessible to those with disabilities. These resorts are well served by Geneva, Lyon or Chamberry Airports or by Eurostar with a transfer in Paris

We hope you enjoyed the blog about this session. We met yesterday for a trip to Singapore so I will get content written up soon for the blog about this and are next meeting on 30 July for a trip to Iceland.

We are hoping to do one month on Europe/ Domestic UK and then the next month a long haul trip so open to ideas or suggestions for destinations you would like to see or how you would like to see the group develop now it has been running for a year.
