A fantastic week of fusions with bright, vibrant colours, a lot of inspiration and beauty found in nature during Winter, where cold, warmth and light and dark exist alongside each other. Also, warmth was found in socialising with friends, family and support, enhancing and uplifting mood at this time of year.

Browse the gallery and enjoy looking through everyone's interpretations of Winter Fusion, let us know your thoughts...

Mainly white background, picture central; Wintry scene, orange sun setting sky is pink, orange and blue, trees a mix of dark green evergreens and a few leafless deciduous on a white frost covered hill
Stunning Winter Fusion Landscape by Helen

Helen - A beautiful artwork created using oil pastels, which were worked so the colours blended, resulting in this dramatic sun in the sky, exquisite. The evergreen trees, with the darkness drawing the eye to their main trunk in the middle and the hints of white frostiness on the tips of the branches, where the coldness has reached them, bring the artwork to life.

Mainly white background, picture central; white snowman with orange and blue stripe scarf, blue hat with orange bobble and blue and orange trim. Orange branch arms. Brown branch tree to left and a house to right with orange windows and a door, black smoke rises from the chimney. Snow path leads from house to snowman
Snowman - Winter Fusion by Donna

Donna - A fantastic snowman, he's so cute and looks very warm in his super colourful scarf out in this huge garden in the snow. Another great artwork showing where warmth and freeze collide with personality! Created using felt-tip pens.

Mainly white background, picture central; digital art bright mixed colour image of people, 3 males and 1 female. Central is a santa figure in a Grotto style space, with decorations
Social Connection - Winter Fusion by Phil

Phil - This is a fabulous digital artwork. I found out from Phil that this was a photograph that he added other people into, then he downloaded the image into the app called Colorpop, a colouring-type app. From here, you can add colour and shading to people and objects in your picture.

His image is based on social connection and 'Winter fusion' with people around him supporting him to lift his mental health, especially during Winter.

Mainly white background, picture central; Penguins black and white standing facing back to back with flashes of yellow at the top of their head and under their chins. Surrounded by grid work of pink aqua and light blue. Base is white snow on the ground.
Penguins - Winter Fusion by Andy

Andy - Dynamic artwork. Penguins are one of my favourite animals and endure extremes of temperature and conditions with the cold, ice and waters and predators. They are truly resilient. This artwork reminds me of a Matisse style with how it's set out with the grid work. I believe it was painted using acrylics and markers.

Mainly white background with picture in centre; Red and orange tall stems on left, Yellow and blue bird centre with white head, black eye, with blue cap to head, gripped to a half coconut shell (brown, on the right) filled with fat and seed hanging by hairy twine. On a green shaded background with dashes of white
Seeing colour in Winter - Winter Fusion by Sarah

Sarah - This painting evokes many contrasts with the warmth of its colours and the coldness of the season. The sleet forms brushstrokes over the background and the ice crystals that pepper the coconut shell. In winter’s deepest cold, stillness reveals its quiet rewards. A blue tit darts into view, pausing to feed, while dogwood stems glow like embers — small fires of colour holding warmth in the frozen day. A watercolour painting, with some acrylic used for detail.

Mainly white background, picture central; Cottage with pink curtains, path leading up to the door; lake to the right. Left a tree, brown with pink, orange and blue branches, without leaves. Foreground fencing, brown and blue panels, all the ground is white, snow covered.
Country Cottage in Winter by Noor - Winter Fusion

Noor - Awesome artwork. I love how Noor interpreted an image she found online, adding her own twist with colours of her choice. An inviting, cosy cottage in the distance with a path leading up to it, a gateway, and fencing. The harshness of winter has left trees bare, and on the opposite side, there's an icy-looking lake. An incredibly wintry scene with the prospect of a warm drink awaiting inside the cottage.

Mainly white background with picture centre; Red and yellow apple centre hanging on tree with bare branches., these are covered in snow as is the the top of the apple. The background is blue grey sky.
Snow-covered Apple in Winter - Winter Fusion by Barbara

Barbara - This is stunning. Barbara said there's an apple tree that had fruit remaining on it by her. It's a striking reminder that summer produced juicy fruit. This apple, with its beautiful tones of red, orange and yellow on the branch of the tree, is a distant memory of the long, warm, hazy days that once ripened the fruit, now sitting among its snow-covered branches with its little meringue top hat, a new dessert for summer or a harsh-looking winter! The latter by the looks of the sky. A fusion of seasons and colours. Watercolour painting.

Bags of creativity and masses of enthusiasm from our creatives this week, a lot of fantastic ideas from everyone with their own interpretations and twists. Personally, I enjoy seeing how everyone takes the topic, interprets it and then uses the media they are comfortable with in our sessions, shares them and the story behind how their idea came to evolve.
