Some stunning blooms and a gentle awakening vibe were created visually by our artists for our spring collection theme, as well as outbursts of laughter and fun, a great soulful thread within the Zoom meeting. The early Spring sunshine saw people glowing from within. A busy week with many beautiful pieces, pause and take your time to notice the details. Enjoy the gallery, let me know your favourites, and add a comment.

Sarah - 'The bumble bee wakens'
This is a painting of a little bee, rather bleary-eyed, just woken from their winter hibernation, searching for sweet nectar. They have been sauntering from springtime cherry blossoms, sleepily collecting pollen as they fly between blooms. I intentionally created a dreamy style using watercolour paints, inspired by the sunshine and by my love of bees and cherry blossoms.

Helen - a beautifully drawn and painted, delicate bird with their colourful spring plumage. I love the intent in their expression; they appear to be listening before replying in song, perhaps hidden by the tree blossom, as they are shy. The delicate butterfly you added is exquisite. Watercolour pencils and paints were used to create this.

Noor - Spent some time drawing her first picture, a springtime trio including herself, a blossoming tree, and a beautiful flower; they are all wonderful, especially with the sun shining. I love the layers within the tree and the pink where the bows are laden with blossom. Later, Noor took to drawing an emergent springtime butterfly with all the detail on its wings and body. Colouring pencils and Sharpie pens were used.

Phil - Phil made his art work digitally using AI, he had us all laughing with how he reimagined settings in springtime when he input the prompts into the AI image generator with actual photos of him and his support worker Chris in various locations, in church, at a picnic, on a boat and in the park. When I looked at the photo, the picture that tickled my imagination the most was 'springtime karaoke featuring the lambs and bunnies'! My mind was thinking about the lambs as backing singers with their bleats to the beat... Google Gemini assisted and a photo editor app.

Andy - A gorgeous drawing of a familiar springtime flowering bulb, the tulip. A beautiful two-tone variety. I especially like how Andy has used black paper as his starting background, with the brighter colours layered on top, adding depth to his artwork. The leaves have a great shape. Andy used soft pastels to create this piece.

Matthew - great to have this piece of art showing a flower growing. Matthew is a keen gardener and shared some time with us in art and a subject that means a lot to him. I love this drawing and hearing about Matthew's sensory garden project and how it's taking shape now that spring is here, and lots of planting has started. Biro on paper.

Donna - Lovely artwork associated with springtime, the smiling daffodil trumpets and the brightness of daffodil blooms are timely reminders in between the sharp showers and sometimes chilly breezes that spring has arrived! Felt-tip pens were used.

Parveen - Beautiful picture finished and added to our gallery. Parveen has been experimenting with inks for the first time over watercolour flowers, and this is the result. This is exquisite; some experiments have fantastic results.
This rounds up our early colourful and very much welcome to "Hello Springtime", it's a tumultuous time of year with many weather transitions, and temperature changes, however, the beauty to be seen in the awakening of the flowers and the sounds of birdsong, as well as the sights of the baby animals as they too are welcomed, is a spectacle and signals the end of the winter. The seasons roll on, and we marvel and carry on engaging with them.
