We all ventured to a different world for this art session and reminisced about some favourite characters and their storylines - an entertaining evening and a mixture of Star Wars and Science Fiction came up, with some self-inventiveness in the mix! Please take your time browsing the gallery and drop a comment. We'd like to hear from you.

Phil - This is a really fantastic electronically produced piece of artwork, ideas from Phil's imagination. It's great to see you have someone on your side to defend the galaxy and battle against alien attacks! High energy, spaceships and a milky way great to make use of Google Gemini by Phil, fab work. This could be made into a new mini series...

Helen - Fabulous! A masterful Yoda, great wrinkles and a look full of wisdom, I love the folds in their cloak. The neon green lightsabre glow is very cool. A Star Wars character that will always be remembered. Colouring pencils have been used.

Donna - Awesome! This brings back childhood memories and the hope that a little alien could make a connection with his own kind. Donna has done a great job in capturing this character who caught the hearts of the nation, the big eyes and even the personality, love this Donna, she said, E.T. was one of her favourite films. Felt-tip pens were used.

Matthew - Brilliant! This week, Matthew chose to draw Luke Skywalker from Star Wars, he enjoys the movies. As you can see, Matthew has paid close attention to Skywalker's hair, making sure it's styled similar to how he has it and given him the signature victory big smile. Great job Matthew. Biro ink was used.

Noor - Cosmic! An incredibly interesting spaceship, Noor, you didn't mention if the beings inside were friendly or where they were from... I love the colours and the different panelling you have used on the hull of your spacecraft. Amazing work, Noor, and your colouring is really neat. Coloured pencils were used.

Sarah - 'Quietly Decoding Us'
My artwork is based on capturing the exact moment an extraterrestrial traveller begins to decode humanity. The alien visitor initiates a massive data download, human language and alien glyphs bleed into the background like a digital matrix. The creature’s organic, cellular form stands lit up against the insane influx of information, as it intensely processes and absorbs our entire civilisation through the fundamental building blocks of our speech. Iridescent metallic acrylic paints and stencils have been used.

Alison - Beautiful wolf picture. Lots of grades of grey shading, highlighted by pink 'pops'. Love this from Alison. She showed us her finished work, as these take her some time to complete, and the results are fantastic, thank you Alison.
A plethora of different ways this session wandered from favourite film characters to Sci-Fi scenes, and imaginations ran wild with alien encounters and matrix downloads. This was certainly a topic that sparked a lot of interest, and minds were attuned.
It was also great to see that some of our members took the opportunity to finish up artwork they had outstanding. As you can see, Alison had been working on a wolf picture, which is stunning. Barbara spent time completing a different topic, which had a lot of intricate details that required work. Look back at the 'Spirit of May' blog post, and you will see her gorgeous Maypole with dancers brought together with blooming Hawthorn flowers!
