An interesting adventure into the fascinating world of fungi and imagination into different realms with our creative collective this week. Please take your time to look into each picture and notice the little details of each, some quaint, others quirky.

Mainly green background; Picture composed centrally of a white building with a pink door, windows with green shutters and a blue roof a stacked chimney with a blue top, surrounded by blue. The sky is pink and orange tones. Grass is light green and an odd palm tree. A path with steps leading up to the doorway.
Andy's finished artwork - Fantastic Fungi

Andy - A very inspired piece of art based on a mushroom. Andy had a cousin who visited Greece and shared some photos of their visit, so he drew upon these and came up with this design for a house. It's dreamy in my opinion, what do you think? Created with soft pastels and watercolours.

Mainly green background - Four different characters drawn top left yellow face and green stem; top right red face and green stem; bottom left blue face and red stem; bottom right; pink face and orange stem all have smiles and hair. Framed with red, orange, yellow, blue and green borders.
Phil's finished artwork - Fantastic Fungi

Phil - Fun-gi artwork... Chris-fun-gi yellow and green; Debbie Duck fun-gi red and scarlet; Mark-fun-gi blue and red; Haley fun-gi orange and pink. These were all created by Phil on Sketchbook digital art app. Super colourful and love the creativeness he's used with these.

Mainly green background. Picture is central of a dark haired girl taking bites out of 2 mushrooms with dots, one blue one red. Girl has striped red and black tights. She has a purple dress and a white apron. Background around her is yellow and green circles and blue and red mushrooms with white dots.
Barbara's finished artwork - Fantastic Fungi

Barbara - A very different angle to mushrooms, Barbara explained she decided to go with an Alice in Wonderland theme with a twist... She was eating mushrooms to change her size, painted both red and blue, but her clothing had a gothic style edge to it... Why not! Loving this there's a whole new book story waiting to happen here, what are your thoughts? Watercolour painting.

Mainly green background. Picture centrally. a red capped toadstool with white dots and a light brown stem. Eyes and brows, nose and the gills have been drawn as many teeth with pink lips. tufts of green grass around the stem
Mandy's finished artwork - Fantastic Fungi

Mandy - A fantastic Agaric Fungus with that distinct red dot cap! Mandy decided to transform the gills (white part) of her fungus into teeth, and what a set of choppers they are, so she has called her character Tommy the Teeth. Check out the smile on them!! Love it! They have an amazing character, I hope they aren't vicious in the woodland, that's all I can say... Felt-tip pens and graphite were used.

Mainly green background. Picture centrally is a red toned large ear shaped fungus growing on a moss covered tree. Background is light green/grey mottle with some green leaves and a few ill defined pebbles.
Sarah's finished artwork - Fantastic Fungi

Sarah - 'Beefsteak Fungus' Fistulina hepatica

A bracket fungus that grows up to 30cm. When cut, it bleeds a red, blood-like liquid. It has red mottled flesh, similar to a hunk of meat... It grows on dead or dying oaks. Common in the UK and North America. They are edible, younger ones are better, being less acidic and sour and less rubbery. Watercolour with a little acrylic paint.

Mainly green background. Central picture is a white dove, in flight holding an olive branch in it's orange beak. Drawn on white A4 landscape paper
Mandy's finished artwork - Fantastic Fungi (remembrance)

Mandy - worked really hard on this drawing, initially thinking the theme was Remembrance. And that's ok. It's a very good drawing, a powerful message behind it too, and this is the first time she has drawn a bird. The group brings together people to try something new and get out of their comfort zone. She then went on to draw Tommy the Teeth and got back on track with the theme for the week.

We certainly went on an adventure with our fantastic fungi with homes, foods, fantasy, cartoon characters and realism, looking at those found in nature.

Let us know your thoughts...
