In November, at our travel club, we had a discussion about zoos we have visited and sharing our recommendations for accessible places to visit. Below is some of our recommendations:

Edinburgh
Scotland's capital city is home to a large zoo which has over 2,000 animals (some of which are pictured below). As you may know Edinburgh is built on 7 hills and to the west of the city you will find Corstorphine Hill which is home to the city's zoo. To help with this there are wheelchairs and mobility scooters avalable for hire on a first come first served basis so an early arrival is recommended. The zoo also has sensory bags avalable for hire.
You can find out more about the zoo on their website
Monkey World
Monkey World is situated in Dorset and is home to a number of apes who have been rescued from the various challenges facing wildlife across the world today. The park is mostly accessible but there are a few enclosures in woodland and have uneven surfaces. You can also get free admission for carers.
More information about the park can be found on their website
Vienna
The Austrian Capital, Vienna, is home to the worlds oldest zoo, situated in the grounds of Schonbrunn Palace. It is home to 500 different types of animals (pictured below). It is fully accessible and reduced rates can be supplied for those with a disability. There are also many city passes avalable that offer free entry into the zoo as part of your trip. More information is on their website
Tenerife
Tenerife is the largest of Spain's Canary Islands and is home to 2 zoos.
Monkey Park is a small zoo in Los Cristionas and is accessible for disabled people. A picture is below

A much larger zoo Loral Parque is situated at Puerto de la Cruz. This is home to over 400 spieces on land and water. The park is largely accessible with most parts wheelchair accessible and dedicated seating areas. You can find out more on their website
Hope this blog was inspirational to help plan your next trip. If anyone has any further recommendations please comment below.
