This year, the UK saw its hottest summer on record for the second year in a row. Many of us struggle with the high temperatures and while we traditionally associate the summer holidays with some sun we might start looking at cooler destinations.

One accessible destination easily accessible from the UK is Sweden which offers many opportunities for a cool city break.

A good hotel chain in Scandanavia for accessibility is Scandic

Sweden's capital city Stockholm has regular flights to London, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester. Stockholm is home to many accessible things to do such as museums and parks. You can find out more information on this website: Accessible Stockholm – a guide to a city for everyone - Visit Stockholm.

A helpful virtual tour of the city can be found here (please note this is in Swedish with English subtitles).

Another must visit city in Sweden is Gothenburg. Gothenburg is home to many things to do as well. Here is another virtual tour again in Swedish and a useful website to learn more. There are flights to Gotenburg from London, Edinburgh and Manchester

In the south of Sweden you will find Malmo which is linked to Copenhagen Airport by the Oresound Bridge. This is another large city and well worth a visit. More information can be found here
